Not bad at all
Wanted to try a water method decaf; my Starbucks decaf uses chemicals. Just arrived and I brewed a pot to try. Flavor much better than I expected. A deeper or darker flavor – which I like, surprised me. I feared it worked taste like a Folders or some other grocery store boring and sour coffee. While not quite a rich as the Starbucks- hence only 4 stars, I wouldn’t feel afraid too serve to guests . Bravo SF Bay company !

Not bad at all
I’ve prepared this Scandinavian blend so far using my two main brew methods: moka pot and French press. It’s a tasty, full-bodied dark roast with smokey notes, though not nearly as smokey as a French roast. The beans are matte, not oily. I’ve brewed through half the bag already, and I’m still getting to know this blend. So far, I quite like it.Being a darker roast, I’ve been careful to grind even coarser than I would for lighter roasts in my French press, using a Timemore C2 hand grinder. Set on 26 clicks. Also, I let my electric kettle cool for a minute or two after boiling before I add the water to the grounds in the carafe. Boiling water is no bueno for darker roasts in a French press.I grind the beans a bit more coarsely for the moka pot as well.So far so good with this Scandinavian blend in both of my preferred brew methods. I’m enjoying it enough that I’ve also purchased the SF Bay French Roast and look forward to trying it.This brand sells a high value product. Decent quality for a good price. The expiration dates on both bags I’ve received are well into the future. Is this freshly roasted, small batch coffee? Absolutely not. I’m okay with this for the amount, price, and convenience. My goal here is to save money while getting a good enough coffee. This brand fits the bill.

Good flavor but what a mess!
The messiest grind ever, even worse than Starbucks! Sticky stuff, clings to every surface of my conical burr grinder no matter what.Decent flavor, but a real mess.

Kiss Starbucks Goodbye!
This is by far the best coffee I have ever had. It’s everything that I love about French Roast: full-bodied, rich, smokey and so smooth. The beans in the bag I received were so dark and oily and the smell was out of this world. But not a hint of bitterness. Sheer perfection! And to top it off, the company checks all the right boxes to make me feel so good for supporting them. They give back to the growers and donate to the communities in so many ways. It is such a win-win for me. Finally, I get to say au revoir to the corporate greed of Starbucks !

The. Best. Coffee.
Full disclosure: I’m a SF Bay Coffee devotee. Over the last 15 years or so, like so many of us, I have experimented with a wide array of coffees, grinders, methods of preparation, and so on. I’m a little bit of a coffee snob: I sometimes use a kitchen scale to measure out my grounds, and I have an entry-level burr grinder that I use.The thing is, many trendy coffees that I’ve tasted over the years, haven’t appealed to me; I really like dark roasts, with smoky flavors. And lots of companies make dark roasts, but they’re all very different. That’s where SF Bay comes in. Every single coffee I’ve had from them has been utterly delicious; my current faves are the Espresso Roast and Scandinavian Blend. But the Fog Chaser is also fantastic. For context: my “daily driver” is a classic AeroPress with stainless filter, Capresso burr grinder; I use the inverted method with my press; I use about 20-22 grams of medium-ground coffee and then just fill the rest of the press up with 195 degree, filtered water (although apparently I should be using unfiltered now? I don’t know, I don’t want to deal with scale and buildup in my kettle). But I’ve also used these beans for cold brew, French press, and even their K cups are delicious.Lastly, but certainly not least, I appreciate that SF Bay is committed to ethical production; not only partnering with their growers to produce sustainable products and help farmers to thrive, but also minimizing their impact on the local environments.Having some SF Bay in my cupboard is a definite non-negotiable for me.

Great coffee but getting too expensive for what it is
I have been drinking this for years and, save for a short period at the very beginning, it has been consistently hitting above it’s weight. It seems others are recognizing this as well because the price has increased by almost double the last few years. I still think it’s a good buy but further increase in price will price this it out it’s league.

!OK TO GOOD COFFEE!
ok to good coffee, little too darkened for me. but still ok. not much flavor other than the typical slight chocolatey flavor typical of ca and sa coffees. a good temporary switch away from my usual lighter roasts.

Fresh but a bit burnt
Bought the French Roast. It’s fresh, smells great, nice and oily BUT it’s a bit on the burnt side so they killed some of the French Roast flavor by roasting a bit too much. Definitely much better than Starbucks, Peets or many others when making espresso and a landslide better than the other major brands when making regular coffee but still a bit too much roasting so it’s a very smoky French Roast. Wish they made a Medium-Dark French Roast and I think it would be perfect then.Wouldn’t buy it again unless my favorite at Sprouts Market is out of stock.

Gold standard for non-local French Roast beans
Best mass produced French roast whole bean coffee. Beans better/fresher than this will cost you a lot more per lb.

Good quality for the price
These are commodity coffee beans roasted to a medium-dark consistency. The bag I received was fairly fresh and flavorful. These aren’t bespoke beans but at this price I wouldn’t expect that level of attention to detail. But they make a tasty and predictable cup of decaf coffee – what’s not to like about that?

Good coffee to drink when you drink coffee and want it to be good
This is good coffee. It is not the best coffee in the world, but it is pretty good. My wife is really picky about coffee, and she’ll drink it, but she complains about it sometimes. When she does, I ask her what more she wants from me. I just got promoted to supervisor in the mine, so I got a nice bump in pay, but I’m not spending a ton of money on coffee, and this seems to fit the bill nicely. That’s all I have to say about that.

Compared to Starbucks French Roast,, , it’s just ok.
I was hoping to find a less expensive alternative to Starbucks French Roast and thought I would give this a try. The flavor is mor intense than Kirkland Brand French Roast but not nearly as wonderful as Starbucks French Roast. It may be the base beans or the roasting process but, SF Bay just does not give that smokey rich flavor that their competitors do. I really could care a less whether SF Bay is a fair Coffee buyer or environmentally aware company. At the end of the day all that matters is whether or not their coffee is pleasing. In my opinion, their French Roast is not terrible and is enjoyable. It’s just not awesome like SB.

we tried this after our regular brand went sky high in price. We just love the Italian and French Roast which are both dark roast. Big flavor and reasonable price.

Very Good Decaf
It’s not the best out there, but it is still a very good decaf. Is it oily? A little bit, but that’s a GOOD THING! That’s flavor right there and that’s why good filters have micro perforations let the oil through. This is enjoyable decaf.

Finally, a dark roast I love
I like strong coffee. Throughout the years, I’ve tried at least a couple dozen different brands. None of them made me happy. Then I landed on the SF Bay Extra Dark Italian. I figured it would be another bust, but I dutifully gave it a shot. Am I glad I did. Love this coffee. Dark and delicious. I look forward to it every morning. The affordable price makes it even better. It’s the only one I buy now.

Flavorable, low acid decaf
This is a flavorable, low acid, smooth decaf. I enjoy it. I dinged it one star as it is packed in a plastic bag; bad for the environment, and I don’t like plastic food packaging when paper coffee bags are available.

Good flavor
First off, I am not a coffee aficionado, and I can’t consume much caffeinated coffee as I am naturally caffeinated. But I can tell good taste. This offering I do like, though it’s a bit plain. Processed via the Swiss water method I like so as to avoid processing chemicals. I do miss seeing it at my local Costco though when I search for it, I have been asked “why?” in regards to decaf.

Delicious and worth it!
I’ve been using Lavazza for a while now and it’s becoming bitter and the dates are way too close for comfort. Doesn’t taste good at all! Not sure what they’re doing. But after watching the videos as to how San Francisco Bay Coffee Co makes and roasts their coffee beans I had to try it. Very glad I did! The taste is amazing and it goes to a good cause. Very happy with my purchase 😁

Tastes great!
My husband and I like a full bodied dark roast decaf coffee but they aren’t easy to find. Most everything is medium roast. This coffee is fresh and has great flavor! It was definitely fresh upon opening. It may have stayed that way but I purchased a 4 qt prokeeper to transfer it to so it’s in an air tight container to maintain as much freshness as possible.Progressive International PKS-100 BPA-Free Dishwasher-Safe Plastic ProKeeper 4-Quart Flour Container, 1 Piece I’ll definitely be keeping this one on my shelf!
