Better than Moka Pot, not entirely an espresso machine

When you have nothing else with you for making coffee, it does provide the intensity of a cup of espresso. But the problem is that the water gets very easily warm, so don’t ever expect a really hot coffee. Also you need to make sure that the coffee grains are really fine and you make the correct pressure inside. I thought of returning it but then thought it would be handy to have it on the go and kept it.

This is a neat little contraption. I do get to enjoy my coffee camping or in a place where I can’t get a shot of espresso. Pretty cool!

    Messy with ground espresso

This is a handy little espresso maker. However, to use this for travel using ground espresso is a very messy proposition. I’ll be using this on boats, RVs and motorcycle camping. I cannot imagine cleaning this up every time I make a small cup of espresso. If you’ve ever made espresso at home, you know one of the big factors in making a good cup of espresso is to find the perfect grind for your machine. I won’t be testing and testing to find that grindI will be using the NS adapter with espresso pods. Much cleaner and easier to use. Unfortunately, this is how the machine should be sold in the first place. Not as an addition.

    Good not great

After trying 3 brands of beans and numerous grinds I have found the ‘best’ that I can get out of this portable espresso maker. The quality is about the same as a Mr. Coffee espresso machine. It hits the mark but fails to impress.Specifically, I can’t get more than 2-3 mm of crema while a high quality machine will get you 5-6 mm.Pressure in the chamber is inconsistent; otherwise this is a cool little gadget with a great design.

So far I’m flabbergasted by this tiny machine

When first unboxing this tiny espresso maker I did not expect much from it. It has a plastic feel to it that does not exude quality – although it is sturdy. I had just packed my Breville Barista Express and needed a small maker urgently to use while I move to another country. Enough with the background, following is the review (be aware I’ve only had this for a couple days so will update if something changes).Portability: this thing is super small and super light. The hardened plastic exterior is justifiable when you take into consideration the weight. This is meant to travel. Other reviews that mention bad quality plastic are taking this machine out of context – while it can definitely shine in your house, it is meant to be taken out into the wild. Everything you need (except for the coffee) can be packed within the body of the machine. While I don’t have the NS capsule adapter, I gather you’d even be able to take one capsule inside the water tank. All you’d need then is hot water.Ease of use and clean: while I might be biased coming from a vastly more complex machine, this thing is incredibly easy to use. A few main steps and you got yourself nice coffee. I’d say the hardest part of the entire process is cleaning the portafilter once you’re done. Because of pressure requirements, that thing has to be packed tight. While I have not yet completed a deep clean of the machine, from looking at the steps it seems straightforward. Again, this is my opinion coming from a more complex machine. Ultimately, this is an espresso machine, not a long coffee machine. The love and patient you put into the process will return you better results. It’s not a one button operation, but the few steps required make it a incredibly pleasant experience.Coffee, the crux: Given all that has been said about this machine, it makes incredible coffee. No, it will not give you the complexity and layers of a machine that costs multiple times its price, but wow, was I taken back when I first tasted the coffee coming from it. The coffee forms an incredible crema, although not as tall as a machine with more constant pressure, but it is there and it is noticeable. The coffee extruded is creamy and packed with flavor. My only complaint, not really but more negative observation, has been that unlike other machines the crema and general texture of the coffee decays rather quickly with this machine. But…again, it’s an espresso so you should be done within a couple sips anyways.Overall, if you’re looking for a solid cup of espresso at low prices and are especially concerned with portability, I don’t think you have to do more research. Go with this machine.

Cool travel gadget, but clean-up presents challenges, particulary if you want to use it outside.

The idea of hiking out into the wilderness, and then, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, having a fresh espresso sounds pretty great. Making your own fresh, perfect espresso while staying in some lousy hotel where the only coffee on offer is revolting also sounds pretty nice. And this little gadget delivers the goods. All you need, other than espresso, is a way to boil water. So any camp stove will do the trick in the outdoors and you can normally get hot water at any hotel that makes tea available. The actual process of making an espresso with this is not terribly complex. You add hot water into a little reservoir, then run it through the machine by pumping it a dozen times or so to get the insides hot. Then repeat the process with espresso added into it. The whole procedure takes less than 5 minutes and it is not at all hard to master. It is a little fiddly, but not excessively so. You just pump slowly until the water is used up. It even has a little cup for you to drink the espresso from built right into it. The whole thing is quite ingenious and everything is nicely made.I just used the illy espresso in the silver can, and the espresso this thing makes using that coffee is honestly pretty good. Even preheating the machine, you will want to drink it immediately, as it is not exactly scalding hot when it comes out. I found it very smooth and pretty similar to what my basic home machine can do with identical coffee. Now, here is the big limitation. If you are home or somewhere with a sink, the next step after enjoying your espresso is to go to the sink and take everything apart, rinse it all off, and then put all the pieces in the dish rack to dry. Realize that there are a lot of pieces and some of them are rather small: Water reservoir, pump section, coffee holder, steel filter/dispenser end, cup, and measuring cup. But under running water it takes just a moment to rinse everything out and lay everything out to dry. So in your house, the clean up is not much worse than what it takes to clean your regular espresso machine. You mainly just have to be careful of the small pieces. But nobody is buying this to make espresso at home, it is for traveling. How are you going to easily handle the clean up of all those pieces if you are backpacking or camping? Or even in your hotel room if you are going to be checking out in half an hour? The answer is that you really can’t. You’ll have to pack it up dirty or at least a bit wet inside and wait until you are somewhere where you can properly clean it and let all the little pieces sit out to dry. I suppose you could wash and then hand dry every little piece, but you are now starting to get into a level of hassle that I am not sure most people will really want to deal with. And the design doesn’t make it easy to hand dry the pieces even if you wanted to.Now I am still a fan of this thing, because it does what it promises, and it does it well. It is still coming with me when traveling in civilization, but I am less excited about even car camping with it, and I think it is just too fiddly for backpacking, even if one was inclined to carry something this heavy into the backcountry.

Great product, the secret to get the perfect crema everytime

This product is an awesome one. I bought this as a temporary espresso maker while I save for a $500 one. This one has an awesome design and I’m sure they’re made good. Till now I’ve used over 20 times and it’s as good as new. The pump is not too hard but it would not be easier for a kid to work it out out either. You’ll still need to carry your water separate as the pump will not hold the water hot inside which is a shame. I would’ve loved if it could retain the temperature for few hours at least. The open secret:Every coffee snob knows the secret for perfect espresso.Temperature: Your water should be around 90C and that means its just around the time you see the bubbles start coming up unless you want to carry a thermometer.Grind : The grind of the coffee is very important but, you may not get the hang of it the first time. The grind should be fine but not too fine or it would start seeping into your espresso. Use the scoop that comes in with the pump to settle the coffee but don’t over press it.Fresh : This is an underrated one, as most tend to grind in batches. If you love your coffee, grind it fresh. There is no alternate to that. The fresher the grind, the better the coffee. If you follow the three important secrets, you’ll have the perfect crema everytime.

Pretty great for on the go or camping

I bought this for my husband and I to go camping and still get pretty good espresso. I’m honestly shocked at how easy it was to pump and how quick it took as well. We are still tweeking with our grinds to get the best espresso we can from it, but it’s stupid easy.Very easy to clean, easy to use, seems really robust. Definitely a 10/10. We have a friend who also has one which they also love it, and lots of motorcycle camping vloggers say good things about it as well which helped with the purchase!!

Perfect Quality Espresso, a bit tempermental

The pros: You will obviously save money on purchasing coffee, if like me you went from having to french press a full pot each morning to just 1-2 shots with this thing. Once you get it right, this espresso will match the same quality & taste as a professional barista with a full rig, hands down. The cons: About the “get it right” part. This thing is very tempermental when it comes to the combination of espresso grind + pressure of your tamp. A finer espresso grind will mean tamp a bit less hard; just a tiny bit coarser, and you should tamp a bit harder. It’s very tempermental. If you tamp too hard on a fine grind, the internal safety valve will actually open and you’ll need to start over. Tamp too light on a coarser grind, and your coffee will just be wet and unconcentrated. Also, cleaning is not the easiest, particularly just emptying the grinds after each use, but to me the pros far outweigh the cons. I feel like I have control over my cup of coffee each morning and I get a really high quality. 🙂

    Perfect on the go espresso

The media could not be loaded.

Like others have said, this is not going to replace your big espresso machine at home but for a compact/portable espresso maker for backpacking or general camping, its amazing. It takes some experimenting to get the grind right and you have to be patient with your pumping. Go slow and steady to get a good shot. The shot does get weaker toward the end so you can stop short a few pumps for a stronger brew. But overall, I love this thing. I have never found it difficult to clean. I just make sure to rinse it really quickly after I make a shot. Then I can give it a quick wipe down later before I store it away. Read the instruction though. It does say to give a I higher level of cleaning after so many shots so it doesn’t get clogged up.

A great gizmo for espresso when away from home.

Really great for me as someone who travels for work. I was tired of the hotel coffee and finally buckled on this purchase. Glad I did. It makes great espresso not quite as good as my home machine but better than Starbucks and most other shops I go to. I haven’t tried the Nespresso adapter yet but that’s next on my list. The guys at the airport probably think I’m smuggling drugs when I carry on 2 lbs. of ground coffee. Nespresso cups will be less awkward I think.

    Perfect for Me

I love good coffee. I love tinkering with all the variables. I love quality. I knew that to buy a quality automatic espresso machine, I’d have to spend big money. So I began looking for manual espresso makers because of the price range. This was the perfect purchase for me; now I can make amazing drinks! It took some tinkering to get things right (and not make a huge mess), but now that I’ve gotten the hang of it, I can make consistent shots.I’ve taken it to the office and made some over lunch; the portability it pretty awesome. But I frequently end up with a mess, and lots to clean when I’m done. It’s not fast, but for me it’s the joy of the whole experience.I have no regrets, and the barista kit was a good upgrade. Very happy!

Good product – time consuming to use & clean – be careful!

The Good:-Makes espresso on par with an expensive machine-I have replaced counter-top espresso maker with this, it is much better.-It can make espresso in 3-5 mins-It seems durable (will update if not)-Compact and portable, I tuck it away in the cupboard and bring it outThe Bad:-It takes a long time to clean-It only makes a single shot of espresso, if you are trying to make 2 people a double shot this is not very practical-It’s messy, I always put a dish towel or a paper towel under it to avoid drips and spills-OUCH! Do not tamp fine grounds in the basket too hard, just give it a gentle press to even them out and do not fill it completely. If you do, the negative pressure inside will suction the top cap down so hard that you cannot get it off. The ridges around the top completely ripped my hand up while trying to get the cap off. There is no remedy except for time and a lot of muscle. Don’t be dumb like me – use a towel so you don’t get injured by the ridges if your cap gets stuck.

A month in and loving it so far!

I have a rather small kitchen and have been eyeing espresso makers for a rather long time. I looked at the nanopresso awhile back but couldn’t quite justify the purchase at the time. Fast forward to this year, and I was headed to Burning Man and thought it would be great to have a pick me up when out in the desert. We were in an RV so it made it easy to be able to just wash it out. I had a separate container to be able to put the used coffee grounds into. I added the nespresso adapter to it and that is a game changer. Way easier cleanup and less stuff to pack with you. I am in no way shape or form a coffee connoisseur but have been happy when even just using store bought ground coffee for regular coffee maker. It is so well made I don’t foresee having any issues with it for quite a while. I actually find myself using it quite frequently at home and is easy to put away! I highly recommend it for use at home, work or even when out camping!! Great company that has thought every aspect of their product through!

It broke after not so much use

I bought this for a friend more than a year ago. My friend rarely used it because it is mostly only suitable for travel, do I would say less than 10 times of use. Today I got a chance to use it, did as instruction and after a very long while pumping (not just 8 pumps like stated) some coffee got out. But right then I heard a crack, the Portafilter’s screwing part broke. So now it’s useless, I don’t even have a chance to get to figure how it should work. The build quality seems good though, so maybe just that part.

    Nice! No regrets.

Bought this for camping. It is easy to use. I was able to figure it out pretty quickly. It is enough for one shot, so I make a couple cups. Don’t overfill with grounds or It won’t work well. My only complaint is the temp issue which is probably more of an environmental issue and less to do with the machine. I put boiling hot water in and then get lukewarm espresso out. Don’t love that. But I am happy to have purchased it because it is easy to use, portable, and great when this caffeine addict is in a pinch!

    Great portable espresso maker

I had been eyeing this product for a while and while I was away from home for 5 months working, I decided to try it out. It has saved me so much money now that I can make my own lates. The espresso shots that come from this little machine are smooth and tasty with a light crema. I only suggest cleaning it out regularly and pumping hot water through through it before use so that your first espresso shot doesn’t cool off in the process of being pressed through the cold machine.

After over a decade of searching for decent camp coffee we finally have a winner!!

I’ve been searching for decent camp coffee for over a decade. The instant packs taste like garbage. Java press is messy. Pour over doesn’t always go that smoothly, it’s messy. The nanopresso is a game changer. It’s so good that I’ve brought it with me to work on multiple occasions. I pretty much only use it with the capsule adaptor but it’s cool to have the option to ditch the adaptor and use fresh ground coffee too.For camping it’s super easy, clean and most importantly the coffee is good. One and only complaint is that it makes such a small amount per pod, but that’d exactly what it’s supposed to do. It’s an espresso after all. But if I decide I want a second cup it’s easy to just pop in another pod and make more.Hands down the best camp coffee I’ve experienced thus far. Super easy, clean up is a breeze, small, and great coffee.

    Works great!

Had this espresso maker for a little over four months now, and it’s worked great for me! Great espresso, nice crema—honestly the only home espresso-maker within budget that I’ve found actually works! If you want the coffee to be properly hot, make sure to use boiling water, not just hot water. Tastes great!A warning: after four months the unit has not broken and is still in perfect working order. However, at one point the orange rubber ring in the center DID pop out while I was washing it due to the pressure buildup. It was easy to put back in (I recommend using a paper clip to fit it properly into the grooves), BUT if my sink hadn’t had a basket I would have lost it down the pipe! ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS wash over a sink with a basket or crossbar!

Professional Barista to Home Barista in 35 seconds

This thing is dope!I worked in specially coffee for 10 years. I love espresso and really never thought I would be able to make it at home unless I was dropping $5k on a La Marzocco GB-5. But this thing is fabulous! Creates creama and everything! I don’t know about the 18 bars of pressure (you only need 9 to make espresso) but this little baby packs a punch! For all my home baristas out there with scales (and the double espresso attachment) these are my suggested parameters with a pretty fine grind:14.0g of coffee in55g of hot water (199 F is best)28-35g out (aka coffee and water)Aim for 30-35 seconds (pump once every second)You want to see coffee to start coming out around 7-12 seconds. If you’re waiting on you double attachment, just cut everything in half!Happy brewing!

    Very disappointing.

Pretty disappointed. The concept is genius but that being said it has to work for it to BE genius m. When it works it makes the best espresso ive ever had. But that being said it only works about 50% of the time and the other 50% all it does is shoot out water wasting an entire pod or it just shoots out coffee grounds. I operate it exactly the same and its hit and miss when it wants to work. I clean it often and that does not seem to be the problem. This machine is very finicky and after tasting a good espresso that it does make i am left more disappointed than thrilled. I dont have the patience to play games with this machine so for now on ill just make my drip coffee which is always consistent. I was excited to buy all the wacaco prts and go all out on it but now i think ill just use it as a paper weight. Definitely needs some tweeking on wacacos end. Look forward to making a mess and not getting a consistent brew. Thanks!

    Not durable

After a month of use where I would make a shot or two depending on the day, I am barely able to make a shot. It was great at first once I got the ratio of beans and grind down, but now it leaks water out of the pump and water is trapped somewhere else in the body. There’s no obvious way to remove and figure out what is causing the leak either.

Over 1000 shots through it, still works the same as when I bought it.

Be warned: You’ll need to spend more than the cost of the pump for a grinder that could produce results. I also bought a scale to weigh the beans. With an 8G basket it’s basically a single shot, except it allows you to put much more water through than even a typical doubleshot produces. So may it makes a ‘Lungo’ if you pump all the water through. I wouldn’t pump less water through though, or you’d have a 20ml shot which is just too small to drink. Because I pump all the water through for a single, I extract some bitterness, but with good coffee it’s still quite tasty.I have removed the pressurized porta-filter plug and still gotten crema, suggesting the device is generating legit espresso pressure. Also, shots produced using boiling water come out hot. So the device seems capable of fulfilling legit espresso requirements (8+ bar pressure, low loss of temperature through the device). Just beware that if you don’t have the barista kit, you’ll only be able to make a single shot that is full strength which is hardly a sip. Also if you want real crema, and good taste it all depends on the quality of coffee you use. I started roasting my own coffee to always have a fresh supply. Garbage in = Garbage out.

    Squeeks, but delicious flavors!

Squeeks a bit while using the pressure button, but the result is great. Brought out flavors from the coffee which I didn’t know the beans had!I also use the same coffee twice (brew, fill, brew again, toss Puck), and it still tastes great. If not fully closed, a bit of water seeps out, I blame it to user error than design. Outside is all hard plastic. Which, while might sound uncomfortable, is very convenient and durable and appreciated when tightening the ends.Closest to a con, so far, is that not all the water is pressed through. Mayne a teaspoon or 2 remain, which I just dump into the cup.I haven’t tried to take apart the coffee filter grate yet (for cleaning), but at least I have the option with a hex key.I can’t compare to a professional machine, but it’s worth the money. Might update when I next see my Starbucks manager friend and get her review of it.

    Excellent Espresso

This product is easy to use and makes excellent espresso with 18 bars of pressure. It has more pressure than most electric espresso makers…The ONLY thing I would suggest is to buy the Barista Kit as well, as a single shot is not much espresso. With the kit, you can make a double, plus have a second one loaded and ready to go immediately.Worth every penny!!

    Nice little gadget!

Update 12.3.21: I originally bought this for my coffee fix while camping but liked it so well I kept it in my daily daily routine. I use Starbucks espresso beans or Volcanica decaf espresso beans ground in a manual grinder. I’ve made over 400 cups of espresso and it’s still working great! I’ve also saved a boatload of money not buying Starbucks lattes in exchange for the small inconvenience of using this to make my own. My one tip: be careful when rinsing not to lose the orange rubber seal. It likes to fall out and has ended up in my garbage disposal – thankfully discovered before I pulverized it.———————- I just received this and have only made one cup so far, but the flavor is wonderful. I used whole bean Starbucks espresso roast and ground it with a cheap $12 grinder. I bought this in preparation for tent camping because I won’t camp without my coffee. The plunger gave my 54-year-old thumbs a workout but it’s not really difficult to use. I’ll be able to add hot water to the espresso and make my hubby happy with an Americana too.

You might burn yourself, but you’ll have coffee!

This is a superior camping solution for one person vs a little jet boil French press like I was using before. I never tried it with loose grounds and wouldn’t want to, I bought the adapter for the pods. The design is not great, you have to put boiling hot water in the cup and then screw the cup into the device. It’s easy to spill some and burn yourself while screwing it in.Criticisms aside, I love being able to make espresso while camping and while traveling, and highly recommend this for that purpose.

    A great espresso!

Firstly, I really enjoy my espressos. I have a Breville 870XL for my home brewing. However I was looking for a solution for the office and for travel. I have an Aeropress which works great, and makes a great cup of coffee. However, it can’t extract an espresso.I’ve been seeing the Nanopresso for awhile and finally pulled the trigger since the price is very reasonable.Physically the product is fantastic. Very solid with good seals. The ports filter has a metal screen which is great. It light and small enough to travel with. The little tote that comes with it is helpful. The process to make an espresso shot is really easy. Easy is always relative. If you want to make a great espresso with portable equipment, this is very easy. If you want easier, go to a coffee shop. The nanopresso, simply add the grinds, a little tamp, add water, assemble and pump. Out comes a great shot of espresso. You get the crema which can’t be achieved with the Aeropress. Cleaning is easy as well. Unscrew and rinse. They recommend to pop out the portafilter once in a while for a deep clean.Regarding the taste, it’s fantastic. It’s a nice espresso shot equal to my Breville. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants a portable machine to make a quick shot of espresso.

    Excellent on the go Espresso

A month later, I find myself still grabbing this from my bag and enjoying a quick latte at work. I will say that I got the pod adapters and they work wonderfully, so I couldn’t tell you how it is with actual fresh grounds. That being said, making more than one pull can be a bit arduous and it really loses the heat of hot water that you put in. If you make the water too hot, holding the bottom can leave you wishing you had grabbed it with a cloth. But for the form factor and having something to make Nespresso Pods on the go, it’s honestly the best.

Interesting way to make coffee on the go.

So to start off this review, I’m a bit biased. I enjoy good espresso and have tried a few different ways of making it (from consumer machines to E61 to lever machines) and wanted something to travel with.Initial impression with a poor quality grinder and good amount of milk were fairly good and better then most coffees you might get in a “coffee” shop. I was fairly happy with the gadget while traveling. More recently I stopped adding milk to my espresso and prefer a good double shot instead. When I went on a trip with it, try as I might I could not make a good shot. Milk drinks were still passable, but espresso did not taste very pleasant. It makes something between a coffee and espresso and has none of the good qualities. I’ve removed the pressurized cap and was pretty much just pulling straight with a good grinder. I was not able to get a steady flow and it was just not a pleasant experience to use. So much so that I ordered a Flair to replace it and have been enjoying great shots since. This is more of a toy and I would save the money and buy something better. It’s bad enough that I can’t get a constant pressure, but it’s probably worst that the coffee you are making is in direct contact with lots and lots of plastic. Probably not very good long term.If you don’t mind milk drinks or more watered down coffees, this might still work, but I would caution against it unless you have a good reason to buy a toy and low expectations.

Does what it says it will

This thing really does pull a great shot with less effort than i though it would take. I have pulled ONE shot so far, however. I might update this after 10-20 shots … no where near as convenient as my expensive home machine! But, at the campsite…on vacation….in the RV…on the boat….really perfect, I bet. We’ll see.I’m only disappointed that I cannot pull a double shot easily or without an adapter. The single is a fatter single so that’s good…and pulling a second shouldn’t be an issue. I’m normal a espresso doppio guy so double makes sense to me. Once I get more comfy with this I’ll see how convenient pulling one then another right after. The workout pushing the plunger is excellent! This will follow the hand grinder I use regularly for espresso, anyway. Slows me down…

Works every time with this simple trick. Excellent espresso on the go, easy to use and clean

UPDATE-Now that I’ve used it on a daily basis for a couple months, I did run into a few times when it would not pump any water/coffee for no apparent reason (same exact coffee and grind, same pumping technique, etc). I contacted support- they emailed me several videos to test out various parts of the machine, which all checked out but I still had occasional troubles. However, in my experimentation with the machine I’ve been able to achieve a 100% success rate by using this simple trick-1. “Prime” the pump part of the machine by pumping it a few times -to get rid of all water remaining inside.Do this everytime BEFORE you assemble all the parts and add water and coffee to make a fresh espresso shot.2. If it still fails to pump, clean the filter parts as per the instructions supplied. You might have to unscrew the metal plate for “deep” cleaning, should the “regular” cleaning not be sufficient.Unfortunately, unscrewing the metal plate requires an Allen wrench which isn’t supplied, so do this BEFORE you leave on a (camping) trip or make sure to bring a wrench with you, so you can clean it in the field.BONUS TIP – to make a long shot, just add more water into the reservoir after pumping the first shot and pump a second shot.ORIGINAL REVIEW-I was at first a little skeptical of a small handheld espresso maker, but after using it for over a week I’m very happy (and I rarely rate any products 5-stars). Love the fact that I can use ground coffee- unlike Minipresso that only uses pods.Despite some reviews that state it’s difficult to use and/or clean, I’ve had no problems whatsoever using this contraption. It’s really well-designed and thought through, down to the scoop/spoon and how it nicely fits into the filter for precise and mess-free measurement/pouring of ground coffee. Tamping is just as easy using the back side of the same said spoon. All the parts fit nicely together and feel very sturdy and solid when assembling and disassembling the machine.Clean up is basically a quick rinse of all the parts. The instructions do recommend a more thorough cleaning at intervals, but I don’t see those being much more involved.Of course, if you have no access to running water, say when camping, things would get a little more complicated, but so does everything else while camping. A separately sold Nespresso pod adapter could probably take out some of the added inconvenience at a camp site, but personally I find one-time pods extremely wasteful and Earth-unfriendly (throughout the whole life-cycle- from production all the way to disposal).Needless to say, you must use properly (i.e. finely) ground Espresso-style coffee beans you like. Using coffee meant for regular (e.g. drip) coffee makers will leave you disappointed and may not work well in this machine.Very happy so far.

    My primary daily coffee machine

I love it. But this device is a replacement after the the coffee grounds holder broke in the previous one. Not sure why it broke. I’ve been using these devices since Earl KT 2022. I gifted the first one (mini espresso) during a visit overseas. The second, nano espresso had the fracture and was returned after 6 months daily use. The current nano espresso was purchased along with barista kit. I use it for my self daily and when I travel /camp. Using the current one since October 22. Today’s April 23.With daily use the top setup with the gallery becomes loose and does not hold tight, but so far seems sufficient once the whole setup is is together and locked tight. Excellent espresso. Second thing the gasket may be weakening after daily use; based on the fact that grinds get under it and run the vacuum/pressure seal. So now I remove and clean the gasket set up after every or every two espressos.Warning do not maintain it (disassemble) over a sink. I lost one bolt/screw in the drain. Another gasket fell off, but I retrieved it and am careful.

Leaks Scalding Hot Water Under Pressure

I’ve read & watched a lot of reviews before purchasing mine. It’s a portable, maybe even pocketable, little device that makes a darn good cup of espresso. Got the crema, got the taste, very easy and straight forward to both use and clean. BUT, there is 1 thing that I can’t stand about it.The instructions says to use boiling hot water, but every time I use boiling hot water, the water container leaks & burns my hands as I go to invert the device and leaks bit by bit as I squeeze the pump. This doesn’t happen when I use hot water that’s been in a thermos for an hour, it doesn’t happen with warm water. There’s no threads for the hot water container, other than a few short fins that extend 1/8 of the inner diameter. WHY ARE THERE NO THREADS FOR A HOT WATER CONTAINER?? WHY ARE THERE NO THREADS FOR A PRESSURIZED DEVICE??I don’t know if I got a bad product or if they’re all like that. Also, I can’t believe it’s anywhere close to 18 bars, where it takes 4-5 easy short pumps for it to start squirting. For comparison, 20 bars of water pressure is like scuba diving down to 200 meters.Other than burning my hands every time I make coffee, it’s a decent little device for a bit more money that I would like to have spent.

    Coffee on the go

Maybe it was bad luck, but this item was impossible to get to me. I don’t know who the company uses to ship to Amazon, bit this was my 3rd attempt to buy it. First item never shipped, second item arrived damaged box and they couldn’t give it to me, so the company needs to do a better job shipping it. Now my review for the item I did get:Not gonna lie, I was s bit intimidated to use at first. I felt there were too mant parts to take out and put it back. But I did it. The coffee obviously it will depend on what beans and ground coffee you use. I bought Starbucks espresso grounded. The coffee is good and strong, the process to make it is ok, but I feel the water compartment should be a bit bigger, as you will have to repeat the process 3 or 4 times in order to get a medium size cup of coffee. It’s also a bit tedious having to clean it and take everything apart, but that’s part of life. I feel like the pump might give out a few months in if you’re using every day as I am. We’ll have to see on a future review… But so far, so good

Its great…if you have the NESPRESSO adapter.

Disclaimer: I have never used any other method besides the nespresso attachment. Ive had it with me for the past 4-months while deployed with the Marine Corps infantry. Its small and portable and WAY FASTER than the traditional way of getting my coffee fix. Like most infantrymen, I use the Meal Ready to Eat (MRE) coffee accessories (like the creamer and sugar) in addition to the Starbucks Instant Coffee. But after setting up everything and cleaning it all (properly), it would be AT LEAST 15 minutes for hot coffee. Now i just borrow a little hot water from my buddies, and we went ahead and saw how long it would take to pump out some hot coffee. Needless to say I was 3X faster in every regard: prepping (virtually non-existent), producing espresso (probably 90 seconds tops) and cleaning (a rinse and a small wipe from my towel and I was good to put it away). But thats just the speed and convenience. Gripes and Complaints? It leaks a little if it is on its side, and it sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes shoots espresso grounds into my coffee. But aside from that I approve, I even have recommended it to friends and other Marines.

Good for occasional but not everyday use.

Briefly, my opinion after six months:Makes decent espresso, even though the 18-bar pressure claim surely must be a joke.Needs the barista kit, so extra $30ish.VERY sensitive to ground size – easily clogs if too fine (i.e. Illy Classico Espresso Ground Coffee is too fine).Won’t last if used as a primary espresso maker (details below). The 12-month warranty works, but the replacement is shipped from China so it could take weeks to arrive. All things considered, probably 3.5 starts.Overall good design with one issue – the seal at the pump piston doesn’t last, and isn’t replaceable. I was making two double espressos every day. After a few months, a leak would spring from the piston, about halfway into the first double espresso, and would only get worse. The Nanopresso is still usable, but one needs to aim very carefully so the leaked water doesn’t get into the cup.I contacted the manufacturer and was sent a replacement device, which developed the same problem even faster than the first one.Figured out how to fully take them apart (not difficult), only to find there is nothing I can do to address the issue. Perhaps it would have helped if I opened them when new and coated the back end of the piston with food-grade silicone, but it is too late now.So, off to try a different portable espresso maker.

    Manufacturing defects, replaced.

I love this coffee maker so much I bought a second one. However it appears that the quality of the manufacturing has slipped. I’m nearing my 6 month warranty end and having a hard time getting a replacement part. See photo for image of the part.Update: The company agreed to send me the replacement. It took a lot of back and forth via email but I’m happy with the outcome.I would buy from them again.

    The best!

I rarely write reviews, but this one totally deserves it. I take it to my office because I hate the coffee there, and this thing is a life savior. I have access to boiling water so, it makes it a little easier to make. I can finally have good coffee at work :)! You can tell the product is made with quality materials (not cheap plastic), it’s easy to carry, the pumping is easy and not loud at all (as some have mentioned).

If you want espresso on a budget – go for a portable machine!

From a barista, I love this machine! Quality espresso machines for your kitchen are way out of my budget and I wanted something that was still able to produce quality espresso without all of the hardware that ups the price so much. If you want good espresso, it’s better to buy a portable machine like this than a cheap applicable like a Mr. Coffee espresso maker that stays in your kitchen. It might take a while to find the right coarseness of coffee bean to make stellar espresso, but this little guy gets the job done!

    Great device

There are several reasons why I only gave it four out of five stars. First of all it’s not really simple and easy to operate. Second, t takes work and is not super easy to clean. Third, You’re going to have to develop a technique. Fourth it’s bulky and you have to get the barista kit separately. Fifth, you still have to get a coffee grinder or have to purchase pre-ground coffee. The coarseness of the grind of the coffee is important. I would not say that the regular ground style of coffee for an electric maker is fine enough. Oh and you still have to get boiled and preferably filtered water right? When you factor in all of that, the price, and the time, 30 minutes or so, I only give it four out of five stars. At the same time there are several reasons why I did give it four! out of five stars. So after that large list above, why do I still give it four out of five stars? First it makes a mean cup of Joe baby! Second, it’s a very visceral experience, especially if you purchase a good manual Burr grinder with variable coursenesd ability. Third, this is a must have when camping and or traveling to rural places where you cannot get a good cup of coffee. I love the crēma that this device produces. Warning, when you first purchase this device and start developing your own technique, be careful of the amount of the coffee that you drink. This is going to be stronger but much richer tasting coffee. When you get to your third and 4th cup you can really overdo it.My technique. The manual grinder I use allows to manually set the courseness of the grind of the coffee. I grind it to, just a fine enough degree, where it won’t put the grounds into the coffee. In other words, as fine as I can do it without putting gritt into the coffee. The second major part of my technique, is when pumping to create the pressure, I stopped pumping just win a little bit of the first amount of coffee starts to drip out. Then I stop and let it steep. For the exact same reason why you would let coffee steep in a French press.

WACACO Nanopresso is a regrettable investment if you are looking for a decent espresso coffee

The WACACO Nanopresso is, without a doubt, one of the biggest disappointments I have experienced in the world of coffee. As an espresso lover, I had high hopes for this portable coffee machine, but unfortunately, it didn’t meet my expectations at all.The first thing that disappointed me was the quality of the coffee they produce. Not only is it weak and watery, but the taste is completely bland. Despite following all the instructions precisely, I was not able to get a decent cup of espresso at any time. The resulting coffee is so tasteless that it makes me wonder if this device really does its job.Because of the high price it is better to buy a coffee machine.

    Better than sliced bread?!?!

The media could not be loaded.

This is one of the most fascinating inventions I’ve purchased. Been looking for something like this for 20 years after I developed a taste for espresso while traveling in Sicily. Often disappointed with American hotel coffee, I wanted something that could produce quality espresso with a rich crema during my travels and THIS DOES IT! I’ve had a Gaggia Titanium superautomatic coffee maker for 13 years and this produces a better crema than the Gaggia. Simple to use, clean, and transport.

Great Espresso on the Go, with a Learning Curve

I originally got this for a friend’s birthday and it worked so well for him I had to get one for myself. When you do it right you get great tasting espresso. While probably not up to snuff to many espresso connoisseurs, I can get espresso fix without having to go out to a coffee bar or buy a large machine to take up more space on my kitchen counter. I also love taking this to work when I know I’m gonna need my lunch rush fix as our office typically has coffee that tastes chemically, so I bring my grounds from home to be prepared.Note: While following the instructions will get you a good espresso, play around with different press tempos and coffee grind packs until you get what works for you. I get a nice Carmel crema pressing just a little faster than 1 press every second. But that’s hard to quantify through text for anyone else, I’m sorry.

    Great – when it works

I’ve had this product since the end of December, for a little while it worked amazingly. But Now 3 months later it constantly spews out coffee grounds. As the seal keeps coming lose. Even after cleaning and reseating the seal multiple times, it now keeps spraying the grounds along with the coffee since it won’t properly seal any longer.I don’t really see a good way of getting support for this product as the main office is in Hong Kong and I’m past my return point. It’s a great product when it worked, but unfortunately it seems to struggle with daily use after 3 months.
